I didn’t go for these frosted glass doors because they’ve got a film inside (white paper finish) which like many other things is unavailable in my country. The reason why I chose this pic is because it’s the closest to what I’ve designed, it showed up later, in my feed when I logged in to browse storage bags. I love how they’ve teamed it up with a Kimono outside because when you match any wardrobe which has a wooden finish with white frosted sliding doors and an open framework, it looks very Oriental/Japanese… This is Part 2 of my Capsule Wardrobe
A big thanks to Mr. Navneet Surti, he singlehandedly carried out the whole assembly with his assistant. I’ve shared a short review below…
The main advantage you get with IKEA wardrobes is that the hanging rails are fixed and they don’t fall off even if the swivel hooks are big (or you’ve stored things on the bottom shelf) they can’t dislodge themselves because they don’t sit on hinges, they are firmly locked end to end, and unlike those removable pipes, they are round not broad so any hanger would do, you can even use bigger hooks. We had to chuck the broken glass drawer & postpone it, anyhow Mr. Surti was very understanding, he made a note of every intricate detail with proper measurements, scaling etc. suggested a few inputs, and did a perfect job. I had a few unique ideas which were a bit experimental but he did everything very enthusiastically… what I loved the most were the lights (they made me cry a lot for that also, they deliberately sent me a set of 2 hangers instead of two lights, then they also increased/hiked the price of everything which was there in my cart along with whatever I had shared in my previous review, which again included those lights) Coming back to the article, I won’t be requiring electricity for ‘em… they are hassle free, they don’t need wires or adapters or additional sockets. I created this model after purchasing everything for their reference.
I wanted to add a golden knob in the centre, like I’ve said in the previous review… the corner ones would’ve acted as stoppers (which would’ve obstructed my glass drawers) so I added one in the centre to enhance the overall look of my plain white doors - Grimo’s panelling reminds me of Tom Ford, it gives a very stylish appeal and the knob in the centre completes the whole look… it puts everything together, someone else said they look like Hampton’s which is by far, my most favourite, I love their style. The knob adds a touch of luxury & makes it more expensive looking. I wanted warm spotlights instead of 2 strip lights cuz they are never that warm or golden and they spoil within a short span of time, they are not that strong either and they require a lot of wiring… I have shared the total cost with full transparency, ergo to conclude everything: My wooden frame has white doors & white hanging rods + 2 warm led lights in each column which are again fitted in pure white consoles, I’ll be adding my other magnetic stick on lights on the side walls, apart from that it’s got two shelves on the top, one pull out, I got a felt insert separately (from IKEA itself), 2 x glass drawers & one more shelf to conceal the pull out (we don’t get glass shelves in India 😡)
Final Verdict: The depth is very impressive, the wardrobe however is quite big & spacious so it does look a bit bulky and I feel they should be getting the glass sliding doors for this size in India as well because its not as small as I had thought, after putting the doors, it looks big, we’d used our tape to measure and see tentatively and it’s exactly what I’d expected but you can’t visualise the whole thing in your head so all I wanna say is it’s NOT a small wardrobe and it is tall enough to give a considerable amount of space, thus they should be getting the sliding doors in this size… instead of undermining it.

I got these stylish Jet Black hangers… this style is globally available 21/per piece + maximum from Miniso (beats Big Bazaar in price & quality, only 16/- per hanger) & Ximi Vogue (12 inches, 15/pp) for delicate clothes with smaller crew necks, IKEA has nice wooden ones but they are again unavailable, even the skirt hangers are not there for online shopping. I had to hunt for other alternatives although I could’ve purchased everything under one roof, its not like they don’t have any demand here; I got a set of 10 in my favourite finish ie. Birch Wood from Amazon & another set of 12 from Shopper’s Stop Sale, got some storage stuff from IKEA, I’ve shared all the details in my previous review. The reason why I avoided wooden hangers (except for the skirt hangers I didn’t have much choice there) was because they are too heavy and expensive, I needed affordable, light, flat, sleeker ones to optimise more space, on the plus side I saved a tree! I am planning to put everything on hangers because whenever you fold your clothes into a neat pile, they topple down… and this is the current state of my previous wardrobe:
Yale merch is together… in the aesthetic section and only vintage aesthetic jewelry will go on the pull out rack btw, one light is spoilt :/ 450 wasted! Good I had one more. I’ve put my Amazon stick one light too! So that helped…I did all this although my legs were trembling 🧿
All my clothes are looking so pretty in this wardrobe, Rose gold sateen tube top, cornflower blue joggers, mauves, beiges, lavenders, aesthetic browns & vintage greens. Faux fur/brushed knits in my fav Orchid Blues and lilacs, spring section is on top whee I’ve kept floral prints & tellies. Corals, clementines, chalky pinks and écrus, dotted sheer & satin tops + black co-ordinates and casuals + sporty blue and the classic Ivy Champion - Yale Blue.
The right side will boast of nightwear & a beautiful lingerie section, I’ve put a (stick on) wall lamp on one of the side/wooden panels… this column has all my satin pyjamas, cute shorts & lacy stuff, biscuit beige, powder pink, taupe, mink, love/quote bands etc. I’m also a tomboy so I do have a mini section of checkered nightsuits, overall 75 cm is a tad bit small for me, but I’ve done an incredible job in organising everything according to their colour, fabric & pattern… all those soft hues are blending together very beautifully and when I switch on the lights, it looks like a store! I’m gonna keep my accessories on the pull out, all my matching aesthetic inexpensive fine jewelry, the ones with charms & cursive fonts… It also has my satin sleep mask which I had taken when I was in my teens never used it so it looks brand new, all my stuff looks like that, I have things which are 10 years old if you’ll see ‘em you’d think I got them yesterday, everyone in my houses teases me by saying I have a museum but I don’t hoard things, I just use them very carefully, thriftily and delicately. I don’t want to boast but I gave all my clothes from 2015-17 in charity because I don’t like hoarding and I’ve kept around 5 items as memorabilia because I will always love and miss that year ie. 2015, it was the best year of my life… it is when I felt the closest to him although we had only short, brief meetings, I would do anything to go back into time :) I’ve missed out a lot on all these years, on my youth and everything else, I’d never imagined my life like this, I’ve lost 5 years of my life due to my illness and all the heartbreaks and abuse, torture, neglect, there were many clothes that I never got to wear, I had to give 10 brand new items (with tags) to my cousin because I figured she would like them more, they are in her fav colours and I sorted out everything to make room for a new wardrobe and a new life, here’s to my fresh start…
Studies say you are a “kid” till the age of 24, I’m 26 now which means I’m a young adult, it’s just been like 2 years since I’ve turned into an adult and I feel like my taste has evolved, I was always stylish but I had a “phase” like most other ingénues lol I have kept a few mini scarves and my fav pouches (Dior, Bobbi Brown freebies) below that in the glass drawer with other delicate fine knit, blonde lace tops which are my favourite. I was always into fashion and style, I wanted to work for a fashion publication, coincidentally my grandmother named me right - ‘Zara’, she wasn’t aware of the brand back then, I am true to my name and I wear it very proudly and stylishly ;)
