My Eclectic Art Gallery

After that wallpaper incident, I had to redo the whole interiors… This time my theme is Cottage Core 🐄 🐓 I’ve chosen beautiful rustic wallpapers - such as Buffalo Plaid, Traditional Damask & Ditsy Florals I wanted to add a slightly edgy Gothic element to it which is exactly why I went in for the last one, as in the warm & almost waxed floral wallpaper. I’m not a kid anymore to have a typical dollhouse, it has to be more vintage & poetic not necessarily grim… but it needs to be edgier, all the lamps will look great as usual with warm 90’s amber lights and for me, it’s all about creating a warm cosy ambience. I’m gonna put my Chesterfield Farmhouse painting (it has a Raven on the picket fence) in the woodland area… along with a faux fur rug, I’ve taken it in a Dark brown frame & I also have a rustic Barn, in shades of gold, greys & Green which will go on the Mint Green wallpaper; I’ll be adding Victorian frames as well to accentuate it’s Quaint, “Vintage” Dollhouse appeal.

You’ll find all other images on www.instagram.com/_thechalet_

I believe just as “Clothes maketh a man”, “Paintings & Wall Art maketh a home” and I finally had the chance to fulfil my lifelong dream of having several paintings in my house, I have collected several frames in Antique Gold, Dark Brown, Ash wood and White, they all start from 199/- and I have curated + edited/refurbished all the artworks myself, in the given dimensions (ie. along with the mount so that none of the images would get cropped out) you gotta take care of that… All of them are free and free to use for personal use, some are even free for commercial purposes. Printing them on a 200 or 300 GSM art card requires around 10-20 bucks and some of my favourite paintings are for merely ₹ 210/- (with my choice of art and frames) I have chosen these sizes 10 x 15, 13 x 18, 21 x 30 & 25 x 30 (these sizes include the mount)

These two will go on the wall next to my bathroom door…

This painting will look great with the Palanquin… sizes 21 x 30 cm

This Elk & Grizzly Bear canvases are for my Quaint Nordic corner, I’ve put both of them on my Barbara Becker’s Flannel Checks (Check out my First Wallpaper Post) I’ll be adding a faux fur rug to upgrade this woodland area…

Custom Dollhouse print which I’ve designed myself - it was inspired by one of the Burlesque European wallpapers which was out of stock, it had similar pendants and ribbons… we’ve seen such wallpapers in old story books (they were ready to take an order for it but I didn’t go ahead to certain factors) I’ll be putting this mini frame below the Grizzly Bear

I am going to put 2 Oval Victorian Frames below the Elk, I got this Painting printed on a 200 GSM art card, it looks prettier in real life… I loved her ChristIan Dior hat (look at their Vintage Logo) people were so stylish back then.

I will be putting one more Victorian frame there along with this Side Portrait

they emit real Gothic vibes

I’m glad I took the golden frames in 21 x 30 size cuz now they are all gone, I took 3 in gold and 2 in wooden and one more small one… now it’s sold out from everywhere and it will take a while to get restocked. There will be frames on each and every wall in my room… like I said even the biggest ones are costing me only 320/- with my choice of art/painting, yeah all the effort of optimising them is mine but I don’t like spending a fortune on those massively huge ones which you get at all other places, they don’t do custom frames so you can’t pick your choice of art… there is one place where you can upload custom images but I am not sure about the quality & they don’t have antique frames. I’ll be taking an exhibition poster for one of the wooden frames which I already have, I also have a set of 7 dark brown frames which I got for 900/- I’ve already put the Stag & Grizzly Bear canvases, next my Dollhouse Custom print which I’ve designed myself - it was inspired by one of the Burlesque European wallpapers which was out of stock, it had similar pendants and ribbons… we’ve seen such wallpapers in old story books (they were ready to take an order for it but I didn’t go ahead due to certain factors) I’ll be putting this mini frame below the Bear, next, two oval Victorian frames below the Deer + one mini golden frame which has a beautiful Victorian portrait (side profile)

The wall next to my bathroom door will have the Pink Palanquin & the other Victorian Portrait (they both have the same colour scheme) The ivory damask wallpaper will have a collage of 5 small & mini frames (Kellogg’s Baby, Night Sky & Ship, Parisian Chocolaterie & the mid century couple) The mint green country plaid wallpaper will have Wooden Frames with Milkmaid Farm + Oxford Train + Rustic Barn on the other side & the Equestrian Polo, Pillar wall will have Paul Klee & the Laundry 🧺 painting, I’ll put the 90’s Greeting Card Sylvanian Family’s rabbits in a Dark Brown frame below the French Lamp on the wall next to my bed. The gothic Chesterfield Farmhouse (again in a brown frame) will go in the Nordic area next to the bear… and last but not the least I’ll be putting the 90’s style Bath time painting with the toddler & her doll in a beautiful golden frame inside my bathroom.

This Oxford train reminds me of my childhood days, whenever we would play monopoly, I would always claim Piccadilly Street & Trafalgar Square ’cuz they were my favourite.

- Milkmaid Farm - I’ll be putting this Buffalo on my Mint Green Buffalo plaid wallpaper… it will look really nice on those Country Checks

Always wanted Equestrian art 🐎 I was 8 when I first rode a horse; I was a quick learner, I would literally make it fly I was that fast, my brother & older cousin would ask me to slow down but I was unstoppable… the owner of the horse had full confidence in me so he would coolly follow us at his own pace, I still remember, my Horse was called Raaj & my brother’s horse was Badal, I don’t remember my cousin’s horse :p I was looking for a black stallion or a galloping horse and I happened to come across this… It’s gonna have a white frame 18 x 13 cm the frame is for 149/- but I really hope it’s better than the ₹80/- frame I got earlier (before my renovation started) lol I was so confused back then… I was more busy with all the tiling and wallpaper work, so I couldn’t pay much attention there, it’s very flimsy, this one looks sturdier.

I’ll be putting this Rustic Barn canvas on the other side of the wall above my lamp

I wanted something surreal like this… These Rabbits belong to the Sylvanian Family & these illustrations were printed on greeting cards in the 90s. I have plenty of such cute scans, it’s going to look perfect in a Chestnut Brown Frame on my Ditsy Floral wallpaper and it will blend beautifully with my Vintage Dollhouse theme. I will be putting this below my French Lamp, my room is 99% inspired by the 90s, even when you step into the bathroom you feel like you’ve entered a completely different zone or era, I won’t be able to capture all that on my phone but it feels like you are in one of those Dollhouses you would play with in the sublime decade of the glorious (and romantic) 90s.

Will be ordering this rolled art from Nook at You for one of my frames

and teaming it up with this beautiful painting, I love those vintage toys (I am extremely fond of novelty stuff) I had to refurbish it, most people have it in a very dull & dark quality.

These small & mini frames would be a part of my collage which would go on the Damask wallpaper (above another table lamp) Parisian Chocolateria

Night Sky & Ship reminds me of the famous quote “Set your course by the stars and not by the light of every passing ship” - Omar N. Bradley

That’s how you navigate through life my friend, stop comparing yourself, you don’t have to catch up with anyone, you don’t have to follow or imitate others, let the universe guide you…

This cute little vintage Kellogg’s print ad…

I pronounce you, Man & Wife 💍 🎩👰🏻‍♀️ I paired ‘em up cuz I love Victorian Portraits, look at the brooches…

… and last but not the least this Majestic Horse Carriage

I had to buy a set of 7 brown frames ‘cuz one single piece was not available… I got a good deal (+ additional discount from an online retailer) I will be putting this quaint painting in 13 x 18 cm size (without mount) It one is so realistic, can’t believe it was painted in 1975

This one is for my bathroom in 21 x 30 size, the original painting (which is from my favourite artist) was selling for $700 all I could get was a mini blurry JPEG, I didn’t want to compress it further so to avoid more stretching, I added a matching striped background and then blended it together, it reminds me of the illustrations we would see in all those children’s books (again, in the 90s)

But it might not work due to its low resolution so I’m planning to put this along with the cathedral, I have refurbished it and I love their colour palette

Small 13 x 18 cm

Since I have 6 extra frames (in chestnut brown) I made this for the smallest 10 x 15 cm size

Had to work extremely hard because the image was square, I added a dotted background + translucent stripes to give it that vintage look, I also added a few elements such as antlers & the rustic Love price tag… you can see proper checks in the actual pic, here the frame is overlapping them because this is not the actual frame, it’s just for reference. I’m using up all the remaining frames.

Added all the relevant details in old fashioned typography and a matching paper background

I was finding it too “cute” & childish but then I saw a blog which had lots of cute clippings and illustrations and the name of the blog itself was “I’m still a child” haha…

I don’t want to narrate anything mawkish but… as a kid, I never had a Teddy bear, no one bothered buying me one… when I was 6, I spotted a small bear in an old gift shop at some hill station and I cried a lot for it, I was happy when when we finally bought that bear; it was ripped and torn in multiple places… I figured it was either defective or used but it was special to me ‘Cuz it was my first Teddy… this painting reminds me of that bear because this bear also has a bandage on his foot… I wanted to keep Paul Klee but I’ve decided to add a horizontal frame there and it will not look good with a vertical one, so instead of buying that art print, I’ll be taking a square frame (that’s the only thing missing in my collection) I’ll put this bear above the horizontal frame, it’ll cost me lesser. I was feeling embarrassed to order another frame from the same store, I’ve already purchased more than a dozen lol… however I got my frame + 2 deep dish & 2 shallow plates + a non stick pan (all the kitchen stuff) for my mother almost in the same amount as the art print… only 100 bucks extra, when I’ll print my paintings, it’ll cost me around 20-30 for 300 GSM (it’s 10 for 200) They do have better apparatus/system as in printers, giclée, inkjets to print the whole colour Pantone in the exact same shade but I wanted custom art and that too loads of it so for now I’m happy with the Photocopy (Xerox-walla) I got around 21 paintings (with my choice of art and frames) in 6370/- From Victorian Paintings & Vintage ads to Rare Scriptures and Relics, I have ‘em all… each painting has some or the other significance. If I would’ve purchased wall art from an online store I would’ve got only 2-3 in the same amount that too from their selection. It’s good for those who’re more into Boho and Modern Abstract art, well most are… it’s very common these days, no offence but I want something meaningful and not boobs or butts in my bathroom or room. Sometimes it just triggers me, all this “superficiality” has ruined many lives including mine. We are supposed to respect the female form or silhouette instead of worshipping it like a desperate hedonist.

Well either of the two

🩰 “Children are like raw clay, it depends on how you mould them” - Anonymous My favourite painting… the book has ABCD how #cute

Update: Edited by me, refurbished by me, I’ve added all that info + Victorian Collection in Gold + a beautiful rustic background cuz I didn’t want to crop any of it… I had the chance to switch to something better from my childhood memory which was very hurtful (the xerox guy printed them in the wrong sizes) so I’m gonna put this now.

Last batch of edits, created these for inspiration… I have given them these names, now I’m pretty sure those houses were a part of the Eastern Civilisation

Xoxo
