The image in the preview is one of my designs that I’ve created here... Please bear in mind, the (honest) opinions I’ve expressed in this article are based on facts & my personal experience, I have shared my rating + an in-app purchase recommendation as well as my final verdict:
NOTE: This was appalling... They knew I have a Chronic illness yet the developers (their friends whoever) tortured me (recently) for sharing my honest review here. I got a flare up, I was already unwell. I have shared the details & screenshots here:
App: Redecor

So far I have mixed opinions, I’m enjoying it but its also a bit disheartening especially the voting system here... one of the users literally changed her username to “voting doesn’t work here” out of frustration. You have to pay to unlock things, then you have to pay for the unlocked items which are going to be random... you can’t pick what to unlock, when I shared about this on social media in my review instead of taking it in their stride, constructively, they changed 6 items to 3 and now you can only unlock 3 random ugly items. Most of the users are either filthy rich or their own app makers... the voting here is also rigged, only those users who spend the most amount are in the top 3, most winning entrées have garish & loud colours with incongruous elements, they do nothing to blend anything, their colours pop out in an offending manner, there’s a way to match monochromatic shades with contrasting hues but all best designs are always saved for the last or they come 10th lol!
P.S. You can’t pick any furniture, you can only choose upholstery, fabrics, colour scheme, walls, flooring & different types of finishes... that too from a limited range of options.
I can share a few “pros” too... like it can polish your design skills, it’s also something worthwhile, it’s highly addictive, you’ll find an eclectic crowd here ranging from wannabes to art students & other novice designers... it’s good if you want to get a virtual hands on training experience.
This is how unfair it is... they all came first, second, third while I came last! Someone else also said in their feedback that all the best designs are pushed towards the end and they always rank last.
Another example would be this:
I’ve created a collage of the ranking... from FIRST, SECOND, THIRD to TENTH (which is mine, used Greece 🇬🇷 as an inspiration), skipped the in between ones just to give you an idea of what leaves users exasperated. One frustrated user changed her name to “Voting doesn’t work.” Winning means winning decor items & Gold bars + Votes can earn you tokens, which is exactly why GOOD designs are NEVER shown to anyone to secure enough votes, only their own users (app developers) will have enough exposure. I was never asked to vote for the things I Designed from another profile... It’s all a sly, lucrative set up. Voting means nothing here, it all depends on the way they organise or line up everyone’s work... they usually place you on the 10th rank & then your designs are not given any exposure for you to secure enough votes and climb your way to the top. Even if you are leading they’ll make sure you never win so you might come 3rd or 4th. If you win, although your chances are always very steep as only tacky & mediocre designs win (they do that to agitate and frustrate you so that you’ll desperately spend more...) on winning, you get a box full of more tacky items (they never lend anything nice) with one use each and some gold bars + ONLY 4 tokens. On losing you get nothing but 3 tokens, some boos & a big thumbs downs!
You can create some really nice designs but it’s quite addictive & the voting system is unfair/rigged... almost everyone spends (real) money prodigally here to do their best and the makers are very stingy with the tokens, they never show your work to get you enough votes... The ones you find in the “voting room” (at times they even show certain designs twice) are usually those which are very expensive as in where users have spent a lot & unlocked several different items. I guess it’s a strategy to propel you to purchase tokens/unlock more stuff. But that’s the only way they’ll earn so if you don’t mind losing or working thriftily with whatever you have then you can give it a shot, I’m sure you’ll like it.
Here are my designs:
You’ll find them in better quality with the description, inspiration and backstory either on Instagram or twitter. Please bear in mind, I had to work in a limited budget with a minimum number of options. I’m currently on level 14.
- New Haven Charm - Used a Greek Palette with Pastel Green & Steel Blue + Moroccan Pink & White. Flooring had to be a blend of both Green as well as Blue, so used Sea Green.
2. Bohemian Shack Inspired by the traditional interiors of Turkey 🇹🇷 & Istanbul, it has middle eastern accents blended in a boho reggae concept.
3. Grandpa’s Modern Kitchenette

Chose a pure White Basin for that squeaky clean feel, used a dark wooden tabletop to match the wallpaper, added sophisticated Mink towels, sheer pink blinds for freshness, windows had to be in birch wood to go with the pink!

Chose colours like Greige & Vanilla for an instant stylish appeal...
There was no alternative for the rug.

- Functional Kitchen -
Created two different versions using different accounts 😋 as there was no option to Redesign. I’m happy with both.
First one is lively & entertaining (this term is commonly used in Modern Decor for dining areas) I’ve used a Sparkly tile in the latter and stuck to a more neutral palette!
Glistening Sparkly Tiles + Brown Sugar Cubic Tiles (I don’t know the actual name)
+ Pink Ceramic Casserole pot + Navy Blue & White Napkin + Rose Gold knobs + Deep Steel Grey Counter + Light Pine Wood Cabinets
Here’s another Redesign using shades of Latte... I have used gold knobs, a slate grey casserole dish, greige sink, coral napkin & latte countertop. Tiles are in Mocha Brown & Light Greige
Winning Entry 🌟

- Autumnal Entrance -
- Grandma’s Traditional Home -
This one’s another favourite because I’ve experimented a lot here with different fabrics and pieces, I tried to keep it Minimal & at the same time luxurious... I had to work with only 3 options in Sofa.
I tried to make the Candle🕯 Tray interesting with an Ice White Cabinet below (we can’t pick the furniture, we can only choose upholstery, fabrics, colour scheme, walls, flooring & different types of finishes) I went with a Galvanised Silver Chandelier & I’ve used a Velvet Rug & Ice Blue curtains to go with the frosted outside view... There’s a turquoise lampshade to go with the Antique concept, with a Coral table & Matching throw paired with Beige pillow on a Leather Couch. I chose light chocolate floor tiles to match the luxurious blue wallpaper.
- Copywriter’s Corner -
Used Pastel Yellow Tiles for the walls & lots of wood for the workspace
- Art Room -
- Cozy & Welcoming Entrée -
My Colour Scheme:
Warm Vanilla & Slate Purple
- Attic for Teens -
My personal fav! I didn’t have enough money/stuff in my inventory to do much so I came up with something which looks more like a dollhouse’s attic... I wanted it to be cosy, classy & rustic-chic.
- Kitchen in Seoul -
Had Limited number of options ie: Only 3 Tiles for the main background... so did my best to match it with other complimenting pieces.
- Nordic Home -
Had to work with very limited number of options... couldn’t spare any tokens to unlock better alternatives. Looks Homely though.
- Dining Room in the Wilderness -
I came up with 2 versions:
It’s Warm Vs Mute
Forest Home’s Dining Area 🕰 I prefer the latter... love the rug I’ve used there
Next, Winning Entry 🌟
The Client Requirement said, its for “Students” Didn’t have much to spare (the challenge also said students mostly stay on rent so they can’t afford much) so I kept it Minimal with a Plush White Tiger Fur Rug, Warm Blue Walls & Flooring, went a bit prodigal with an Exquisite wooden Dining Set, Curtains had only 3 options (spent tokens to unlock more only to get the most terrible looking ones then spent again on the one I liked the most) Chose sheer Silver Bear to go with the colour scheme & used pinewood for taping for an additional luxe feel... solid green mugs for a pop of colour whilst sticking to the woody palette and there you go! #mywork #art #interiors
- Kid’s Room -
- Family’s Welcoming Entrance -
- Vivid Room - for someone who loves living a colourful life!
- Cat Cafe -
Neutral version
Chocolate brown ceiling, warm striped wooden walls, similar to a cat tree... woody elements, fish shaped jacquard print sofa + contrasting green cushions + turquoise blue & pink cat hammock + lilac ottoman + Blue curtains
Something more playful
Orange 🍊 couch + French blue cushions + salmon pink striped wall + Blue dotted curtains + coral fur ottoman + wooden elements & hammock
- Luxurious Living Space -
I was out of gold bars (even though I’ve been saving up since long) so I had to use App Cash 💵 & work with what I had.
Again created 2 different versions for this
‘Nature Inspired Bathroom’
Created a typical stone Hammam Bath for the first design with Glistening Tiles & Green wall Tiles + Wooden accessories + Pink Laundry Hamper + White Ceramic Cubic Tiles + Pink & Checkered Towels
Created a more Glamorous one here with Blue & Gold Tiles + Cubic Tiles + Matching Pale Yellow Floor Tiles + Lilac Laundry hamper (Limited options) + Green Curtains (no other option) + Ceramic Designer Bathtub... Didn’t spend any gold bars or cross 3400/- (app money)
- Fall is my most Favourite of All...”
This or That?
- Paris Home - (using pre-chosen wall paintings) used a matching wall paper to go with the oil paintings & designed the rest accordingly.
- Girl Corner -
Jacquard Golden dotted Fabric + Light Beige walls + (This Coral Rug was mandatory) + Wood finish + Purple + Vanilla
Another version
- Cosy Living Space -
Didn’t have enough tokens for wooden panelling so used a textured wall paint (out of the 3 options, I could only afford this one wall paint)
Saved the best for the last!
- Relaxing Secondary Living Room -
Well I would love to call it a Designer Room outfitted in the most stylish fabrics and hues... if not opulent! I chose a Plush Suede Beige for this uber stylish pod (I was saving it for the right moment, I only had one which I was given for winning one of their contests here) I spent lavishly on the walls to make it more homely and cosy, I love Neutral colours so I merged them with pastels and other chic shades.
You’ll find more designs on my twitter & Instagram page.

Why are you complaining about not winning? Your designs are mismatched, colour blind, texture clashing nightmares. That page must have taken you hours which you'll never get back. Its a GAME. You can play for literally days on end without paying a penny, there are no ad's and, with the right attitude, its a lot of fluff based fun. Get over yourself. The world owes you nothing. The makers of this app included. They're in the business of making money, not of ensuring your sensibilities and fragile ego are soothed. If you don't like Redecor, here's a crazy, outre idea; don't bloody play it! And try to be less self absorbed. Go do something useful for the world.
