Emulating old Beauty Standards

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

Have we actually gotten rid of that quintessential “prerequisite” idealistic definition of beauty? Or are we setting new unrealistic standards which are hard to meet & accomplish? What are marketing campaigns showcasing “Real Women” and their bodies really about?

To begin with, lemme give you a quick glimpse of what I’ve shared in my previous article www.lilacnights.com/post/co-ordinates

So here’s the extract for you to get the whole context:

I just wish all those denims you get at Zara & other fast fashion brands like H&M & Forever 21 would’ve actually been somewhat slimmer or they had a more proper fit. Most of them are now designed as per the new - sculpted aka modified, grotesque out of proportionate surgically acquired - beauty standards. The waist is smaller than a hair tie (not for someone with a broad frame like mine unless I go under the knife like most bloggers, non-invasive liposuction isn’t gonna help, not with the whole abdominal frame) the silhouette of the jeans (as well as those girls) looks very odd, their waist just doesn’t match the super hefty thighs. I mean we ain’t animated cartoon sketches (or VFX cyborgs) to squeeze and mould in every possible shape or form of an eye candy Lolita, why is every girl out there desperately trying to satiate this modern male centric world? It’s impossible to have an invisible/cinched tiny waist & a bigger base (additional glute) without liposuction & those unnecessary squats... I’m not here to deprecate about those women who want to look older than their age just to be another subservient in a Male dominant society... but I thought I’ll take this opportunity to share how we are manipulating & emulating those so called obsoleted “beauty standards” with unmeetable, implausible ones. I mean why drearily repeat the very banal, cliché of the century bandwagon of “Being yourself” when no one’s allowed to be comfortable in their own skin?

For example, this raw image of their unedited (non-customised/unaltered) pair right here was supposed to be a size 24 Skinny. Looks like they are only catering to obese & fat people now, they’ve alienated skinny girls completely... I don’t know why their amateur minds somehow believe only models are skinny or size 0, according to them no one can be naturally “skinny.”

What about those like me who are born with a fast metabolism? We never have it easy, skinny kids are picked upon and bullied, dominated by fatsos more... who are honestly quite callus at times, they ain’t that sensitive, we are considered wimpy; I’m not trivialising their concerns or insecurities... but why are we encouraging obesity? And why are these brands not making clothes for skinny or slim people, they’ve boycotted us completely! And no, we can’t eat “whatever we want” like most assume... fast food is equally unhealthy for us, even if we don’t gain weight, it gives us bloating & pimples. Unfortunately due to more muscle and less fats, we lack energy and we are relatively more lethargic, we don’t have enough stamina like chubbier people. Why can’t these brands accommodate and include everyone instead of only including weighty people, it is tipping the scales and throwing everything off balance. Even XS & S is like L and XL now... trust me, most of their clothes are not even made for “fat” people (if you think you are fat), they are like a Plus size store now which is mostly accommodating only Obese or XL & XXXL Massively Huge Record Breaking Obese people who are also extremely tall. There is obviously more of you to hug when you are chubby but these people are differentiating between us by being bias... they are creating an unnecessary rift between chubby & skinny people; both body types deserve equal respect. Period. Secondly I’m not someone who would plunge or get out of shape, blow out of proportion just to please all guys and fulfil their cheap demands, fétishes, it’s more than appalling to see how models are pressurised to get fat & add more cellulite than proteins to their overall frame. A good, healthy body is far more attractive... I’m one of those muscular, lean, statuesque types, not that I’m not curvy but I’m obviously not out of proportion, I have a broad frame, as in long hands and legs, broad shoulders... An Inverted ‘V’ shape (even Angelina Jolie has a similar structure) but I always wished I was more of an Hourglass, as in a total hourglass like Megan Fox who’s waist size unlike mine isn’t 24, it’s between 22-23, I then noticed that neither Aishwarya Rai nor Angelina Jolie have an hourglass frame, Angie & Keira Knightley are perfect examples of an inverted V figure. I used to criticise my calf muscles and skinny (delicate) but proper broad ankles because at some point I wanted them to be extremely thin Lol! I’m glad God wasn’t that judgemental ‘cuz I have big bones and I need that much muscle & flesh to balance them out or else I’ll look “boney”... I have a sensitive, thin skin anyway so that makes me appear skinny! I just think a person feels and looks their best when they are healthy and the idea of ‘being fit’ can vary because being fit doesn’t necessarily mean being average or thin, if your body type is on the chubbier side, being fit would mean being chubby and letting the body meet its full potential (it can give you lustrous hair, adequate energy and better, glossier skin) but at the same time one has to maintain a healthy diet to keep their cholesterol & other levels in check, working out and exercising is also equally important to remain in shape, it will evenly distribute your fats for a proportionate, balanced frame. If someone’s naturally skinny, you can’t force them to stuff themselves to the point of throwing up! They need necessary vitamins & minerals but it’s impossible to change someone’s metabolism or body type so just let people be who they are. My wish came true and I had thin ankles for a while which were a total bummer! I just hated how skinny I had become, I wasn’t looking like myself at all (there’s still a long way to go, I’m yet to put on some weight) I was looking thin (if that is not exactly what I wanted) anyway, now I’m happy to criticise my calf muscles again!

Trust me I do that every night when I pull up my socks, I’m like why did I have to have such chubby (not that chubby actually) legs? But they are toned...

Last but not the least, anyone with a tall & broad frame would require more food & muscle than someone who is petite (it also depends on your appetite) which is why we shouldn’t judge anyone or criticise ourselves for how much we eat, we all have a lot on our plate anyway! Haha!

If you need additional advice about daily supplements & affordable hacks to get quick toned muscles then hit me up!

Does that look like a 24 size skinny jeans to you?

Someone had to say it *sighs*

Zara has become a Plus Size store now... they had an obese model wearing something from a limited range of sizes ie. S M L and it clearly suggested that according to this “new size chart” Small is for fat people, Medium is for those who are obese & Large only accommodates extremely overweight people who make Guinness Records... I’m not kidding, I spotted one of them comfortably outfitted in a fast fashion brand, that’s not wrong but why can’t they offer an extended range of sizes instead of squeezing people in a “Small or an Extra Small” only to satisfy their Large egos? Why isn’t there anything for those with an average or ideal BMS or the skinny, thin crowd? Why have we been completely tossed over to compromise on misshapen, sluggish, slouchy clothes that don’t fit us at all, that literally sink us or weigh us down?

Alterations aren’t cheap or always even possible... no one can open the entire stitching to make it right! I’ve attached more images of XS pants & 24 waist denims, ordering from Zara has become very disappointing & depressing...

Trends #Year2020 Thank God no one’s going out anymore... #disastrous #style #fashion #sense LOST amidst political moves & online hypocrisy masked as “diplomacy.” Why are fast fashion brands striving for shallow adulation & praise by joining politics? We don’t have Fashion Icons anymore, only “attention seekers.” Any ill-fitted outfit will garner more attention if you remember

what Coco Chanel said?

Dress shabbily and they’ll remember the dress, dress impeccably and they’ll remember the woman.”

Well take my word for it, clothes do maketh a man, your personal sense of style is an essential & integral part of the whole personality. And the more dapper or chic you are, the more impressive you’ll look.

Less was more but even in a minimalist generation, we have “OVERSIZED” fashion...

Now speaking of being “inclusive”

I love this particular gif because it reflects how people astutely use each other like scapegoats & pawns in the real as well as virtual world. They are using all those who’re fighting for equal rights by

seeking a fair treatment... for their own personal agendas, to secure their ulterior motives and personal interests, for political moves, for their “holier than thou” attitude, for flattering likes and comments, for richer content - sales pitch and rebellious, vigilante crusades or monetised activism.

The truth about sham support & political marketing strategies:

Being ‘inclusive’ means including everyone in a single frame, it means diversity and rising above social structures or divisive barriers that keep people apart, it could mean fighting against racial prejudice, polarisation, sexism, etc. anything that excludes minorities or people belonging to different backgrounds, ethnicity, religious groups, cast & creed... but what many of us are doing these days is that we are casting the whole light or focus SOLELY on oversized women and black people leaving no room for skinny girls or someone with a medium complexion, we are excluding Brown people, Muslims, lean bodies, “I just heard a fat woman calling an underage skinny model a “hanger” and let me tell you, it was not out of concern, she was literally criticising her, as I’ve previously stated, some of us have serious chronic illnesses and that leads to a lot of weight loss, models have problems too, not everyone comes from a well fed family and the fashion industry is where they belong, it’s the only place which hires ingénues and skinny girls, it houses them with an opportunity to feel worthy about themselves in a superficial world where “boobs” & “ass” matter more than brains for a man to fall in love with you (I’ve even heard other jealous females denigrating them and saying “they have no assets”) Modelling agencies accept them with open arms because designers mostly look for tall & skinny people who wouldn’t take up a lot of material or fabric for the sample pieces they’ll be displaying on their tall, statuesque, proportionate frame which would not only give a proper look to the outfit but also amp up the whole silhouette, they get more skeletal due to exertion and their arduous schedule which includes walking those ramps constantly for hours in high heels... Another woman called her out saying, she was not “womanly enough” she said she looks like a guy... and that this is not what “real women” look like. Who gave her that derogatory narrative? Brands who are desperately trying to win approval & excessive lauding on their social media pages, who are only targeting majority of hypocritical rabbles for more sales? Celebs? Who vie for undue attention and praise? Or those people who mindlessly repeat everything they’ve heard like a parrot to further promote their herd mentality? You, for a few extra likes...?

To be honest, her whole family was unhealthy, they were like a walking-talking fast food chain. Everyone else is completely alienated and over-rided by the same people who were always trivial about their insecurities and jealous of their blessings... who would bully them as teens. The problem now is that, we are not being “inclusive” we are just being diplomatic and instead of including everyone together in one balanced, well blended society, we are not only alienating or ostracising those belonging to other orientation and body types, we are not only disregarding their emotions & issues, not only encouraging obesity and fake, acquiescent online activism and support but also secluding overweight & dark toned people even more by excluding everyone else because then they are again not a part of the whole picture... they are the only ones in the picture.
